Selecting Export Survey from the Other Menu allows you to export (save) CavePlot survey data to another data format. This allows survey data, originally entered into CavePlot, to be used by other cave surveying programs. It also allows editing, printing, and viewing of CavePlot survey data, without using CavePlot.
The export formats currently supported include CavePlot-Text, Karst.SUR, and Compass.DAT. These are the same formats as those which CavePlot can import.
Due to differences in how the various programs use survey data, exported CavePlot surveys are not guaranteed to work properly. Like imported survey data, exported survey data should always be checked for accuracy. In addition, some programs require survey data to be sequential. Since CavePlot does not require sequential data, exported survey data may require reorganization (in a text editor?) before other programs will accept the data.
